Body Pillows, Neck Pillows, And Memory Foam For A Better Sleep

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

A pillow is defined as a large cushion that is used to support the head. A pillow is usually used while sleeping in a bed. It can also be used on a chair or couch. The use of pillows dates back to Ancient Egyptians. These pillows were used by ancient Egyptians and were found in many Egyptian tombs. Pillows then began to be as commodities in China, then Persia, then Medieval Europe.

There are many different types of pillows. Body pillows, neck pillows and memory foam pillows can be the perfect addition to a better night’s sleep.

Body Pillows
Body pillows are long pillows. These pillows are as long as a full adult body. Body pillows give optimal support to the head and neck, as well as to the knees and legs at the same time. Body pillows are ideal for side sleepers and pregnant women.

Neck Pillows
Neck pillows offer additional support to the neck. These pillows provide a deep area for the head to rest. These pillows also feature an area that keeps the neck properly aligned. Neck pillows are also called cervical pillows. These are ideal for people who suffer from back or neck pain.

Memory foam Pillows
Memory foam pillows provide the benefits of memory foam to the head and neck. Memory foam uses innovative technology that uses the sleeper’s body temperature to warm up the material. Once the memory foam is heated, it provides a soft cradle to the neck and head.

Body pillows, neck pillows and memory foam pillows can add the right touch to any sleep. If you already have the perfect mattress, but are looking for something extra, try a body pillow, neck pillow or memory foam pillow.

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Foam Pillows are Changing the way the World Sleeps in fact, even my own daughter owns one of our famous memory foam pillows:

Many people wish that they could change the world. Well, there is a hot new product that is definitely changing the world. Memory foam pillows are changing the way the world sleeps.

There aren’t as many ‘grumpy’ employees around the world. Why? Because more and more people are waking up feeling well rested and refreshed, rather than achy and tired. How are these people getting such a good night’s sleep? Memory foam pillows.

There are many reasons why the majority of people around the world aren’t getting the rest they need. One of the major reasons is because people aren’t using the right type of pillow. Let me explain. My husband used the same pillow for the first three years of our marriage. Who knows how long he had that thin, lumpy thing before I came along. After three years of begging, I finally convinced him that the next cure for cancer was being grown on his pillow (sorry for the illustration). What type of pillow did we get him? None other than a memory foam pillow.

It is remarkable what a huge difference a simple pillow can make. He feels better when he wakes us. He isn’t spending all night, every night, tossing and turning because he is actually sleeping. The pains he used to feel in his back and neck are gone. I credit all of these changes to his new pillow.

Memory foam pillows are becoming more and more popular around the world. The most popular type of memory foam pillow is the contoured pillow. This pillow allows for an extra level of neck support. Another name for a memory foam pillow is a “miracle” pillow. Millions of people have testified that these pillows have solved their health issues.

Memory foam pillows have been proven to reduce snoring. For those of you who are up all night listening to a spouse snore, this is a wise investment. Memory foam pillows can also drastically reduce pressure points on one’s neck and head. The memory foam pillow makes sure that the spine is aligned properly. This is very important for people who suffer from any type of neck or back pain.

Memory foam pillows really are changing the way the world sleeps. These pillows come full of benefits. If you have any sleep problem that needs to be fixed, you are sure to correct the problem just by using a memory foam pillow. Take the advice of millions of people from around the globe…Switch to a memory foam pillow to relieve any and all sleeping discomforts.

Different Types of Bed Pillows and Their Benefits

Pillows can add a whole new dimension to the quality of sleep you get. When it comes to pillows, there are many different choices to choose from. Each pillow offers a unique set of benefits. Choosing the right pillow can really make for a good night’s sleep. Choose a pillow that accentuates your sleeping style to get the best quality of sleep. Here is a list of different pillow types and their unique benefits.

1. Buckwheat Pillows
You might not know about buckwheat pillows. These pillows are not as common, but are an excellent choice for stomach, back and side sleepers. This pillow is the most adjustable pillow on the market and thus is perfect for any type of sleeper. These pillows are filled with buckwheat hulls and covered with a cotton zippered pillowcase. Buckwheat hulls are flat beans. These beans slide and adjust as you move in your sleep. Using this pillow is like being rocked to sleep throughout the night. Image courtesy of Flickr

2. Latex Pillows
Latex pillows are increasing in their popularity. They are perfect for back and side sleepers. Latex pillows are made from natural latex. Latex pillows are an excellent choice if you are looking to relieve the pressure points on your head, yet keep your neck fully supported. These pillows do not allow for a buildup of moisture and heat and keep the pillow at one temperature all night long.

3. Memory Foam Pillows
If you are a side or back sleeper, a memory foam pillow can be a good choice for you. Memory foam pillows use the heat of your body to mold to your head and neck. Memory foam significantly reduces pressure points and stress points. It is also hypoallergenic. Another benefit of memory foam is that it comes in a variety of densities, so you can choose the right level for you. The higher the density of the memory foam, the more support it will give. Most memory foam pillows come in a contoured shape.

4. Traditional Knife Edge Memory Foam Pillows
Most memory foam pillows are contoured in order to provide optimal neck support and comfort. However, you can get memory foam pillows that are shaped like regular pillows. These pillows offer all of the benefits of the contoured model without the added neck support. These are perfect for side sleepers.

5. Magnetic Therapy Pillows
These pillows have magnets that are embedded into the material. These magnets provide a magnetic field around your neck and head while you sleep. Magnetic therapy has been proven to relieve aches and pains and can also keep your sinus passages clear. Magnetic therapy pillows can also help you breathe throughout the night.

6. Body Pillows
Body pillows aren’t used the way traditional pillows are used. Many people “snuggle” body pillows while they sleep. This helps prevent the arm of a side sleeper to compress the chest while asleep. Body pillows are popular among pregnant women and side sleepers.

Bed Pillows – Memory Foam? Latex? Feather? Down?

Bed Pillows – Memory Foam? Latex? Feather? Down?

pillows

Have you ever tried sleeping without a pillow? How about sleeping without a comfortable pillow. There are many different types of pillows. If you want to make sure that you are comfortable every night, you need to be sure to choose the right pillow. Here are some things to keep in mind when choosing your next pillow.

1. Sleeping Position. The way you sleep directly affects what type of pillow you need. Thinner pillows tend to work best for people who sleep on their backs and stomachs. People who sleep on their side need a thicker pillow in order to fully support their neck. No matter what position you sleep in, contour pillows work well because they can be easily adjusted to fit your individual needs.

2. Firmness. Pillows come in a variety of firmness levels. You can get a thick or thin Down pillow. As with other things, memory foam pillows come in different firmness levels, densities, sizes and shapes. Three pound density pillows tend to work the best because it is very supportive, yet still soft. Natural Latex pillows are similar to memory foam pillows, but without the memory aspect. Instead of taking a few seconds to return to its original form, latex pillows bounce back immediately.

3. Filling. If you like thin pillows, you would enjoy a Down or synthetic Down pillow. Memory foam and latex pillows tend to provide more support than Down pillows. Memory foam pillows use the weight and heat of your head to allow the material to gently mold to your head. These pillows offer great support to both you neck and head. Latex pillows offer much of the same support as memory foam pillows but are much more responsive.

4. Covers. Take into consideration what pillow you use to determine what cover you will use. Memory foam pillows often come with a cover. This cover is usually removable and washable. Standard pillows and latex pillows need to be used with a pillowcase to prevent them from becoming stained.

5. Changing your pillow. You should be changing your pillows every year. The oils from your head seep into the pillows and the longer you use one pillow, the more allergens it will contain. Make sure you are replacing your pillow at least every year.

6. Sizes. There are two main sizes for pillows: Standard and King. King size pillows are very long and bulky. Even if you have a King size bed, you might want to use 3 Standard pillows instead of 2 King size pillows. Some manufacturers also offer a Queen size pillow, which is the perfect size if a Standard pillow is too small and a King pillow is too large.

There are many different pillows to choose from today. Choose a pillow that will fit your individual needs. Make sure you aren’t losing any sleep from the lack of a good pillow.

Need Help With Neck Pain? – Try a memory foam pillow

Do you constantly live with neck pain? Many people don’t realize how debilitating neck pain can be until they begin suffering from it. If you suffer from chronic neck pain or any pain in your neck at all, you need a memory foam pillow

memory foam pillows.

Memory foam pillows have been proven to significantly reduce neck pain. Everyone has a different shape. Memory foam pillows conform to the unique shape of your individual neck and head. This provides optimal custom support. Memory foam pillows also come with a unique contour which allows it to be a custom fit.

Memory foam pillows cradle your head and neck better than any other type of pillow. When your body temperature heats up the pillow, it gently molds to your head and neck. It provides support all night long while it cradles you. Instead of waking up feeling sluggish and achy, you’ll wake up with virtually no pain.

Do you toss and turn all night too? This is because typical mattresses create hot spots. Viscoelastic foam or memory foam prevent these hot spots from forming. Without these hot spots, you won’t have to toss and turn. You’ll get a much deeper sleeper when you aren’t tossing and turning.

Make sure you chose a memory foam pillow that is top quality. Some imitation memory foam pillows do not provide the comfort and/or support that you need. Instead of helping your neck pain, these cheap imitators can make your pain worse. If you want to live without neck pain, you need to get a memory foam pillow. Using a memory foam pillow is the best way to alleviate your pain and leave you feeling well rested every morning.

Sensus Memory Foam Pillow; A Rocky Mountain Mattress Review

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

I know you can go into any major store and find what they are calling a “memory foam pillow”, but the truth of the matter is you are not really getting a quality product. You are probably getting a product that was made in China and has who knows how many un-healthy chemicals in it.

Being in this industry I can’t tell you how many people (but its lots and lots) have come up to me telling stories about buying a memory foam pillow from a major store chain (like Wal Mart) and being truly disappointed by the quality of the product the purchased. They also tell me about the horrible smell the off brand memory foam has, and being even further frustrated when they find the product is made in China.

I hate when people waste money like this, but Rocky Mountain Mattress does have a solution. We offer Sensus memory foam pillows made with quality Foamex brand – made right in America. Sensus memory foam was rated the overall highest quality memory foam mattress by the Wall Street Journal, even beating out Tempur Pedic.

You will not be disappointed with a Rocky Mountain Mattress Sensus Memory Foam Pillow. Here is a picture of the 5lb. Sensus Memory Foam Pillow: Check out the amazing molding that this pillow can do! Talk about a good nights sleep, and healthy neck. No more kinked neck, and waking up sore with this pillow.

Do I Really Need a New Pillow?

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

How many of you reading this just spent the night sleeping on a pillow you purchased over a year ago? two years ago? five years ago? I would place my money on more than 50% of you currently have a pillow that is more than two years old. I would simply like to say disgusting! If you haven’t replaced your old pillow within the last year you should really consider it. Not only are you probably sleeping on a pillow showing a few years worth of drool, sweat, spills, and other stains we all know what I’m talking about. You know, when you take the pillow case off to find a brownish yellowish looking pillow instead of the nice white satin look it used to have. Along with sleeping on that surface, you are breathing in all kinds of things you shouldn’t throughout the long night. For more on what you may or may not be breathing in view my recent post on Hypoallergenic Mattresses and Mattress Covers.

A quality pillow should be replaced about once every year or about every third toothbrush or so. I say quality because a quality pillow is a pillow that you probably didnt pick up at the dollar store. We feature many quality pillows on our site that range in price from about $50.00 to $100.00. You can get memory foam pillows or latex pillows from us and there are many other styles you can purchase elsewhere.

latex pillow

Recently, a lot of attention has been focused on pillow replacement. There was a story featured in the Today Show talking about how dirty your pillows actually are. They had four volunteer bring their pillows with them to the show and had scientists test their pillows for cleanliness and found skin cells, bodily secretions, animal hair and dander, bacteria and fungi, dust mites and dust mite fragments, waste, and more on their pillows. To watch the footage click here.

Simply stated, if your pillow is more than a year old consider replacing it with a new pillow before you spend another night on it.

Kinked Neck…terrible night

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

This morning I woke up with a kinked neck ouch! Throw away the batteries for my alarm clock because I can’t get to sleep! I hate going through my day without being able to give the bobble head hello. You know; where you see someone you think you know, or someone you know but don’t really want to talk to you give them the quick head move to say hi. Well I can’t do that today as the kink in my neck is resting just below and behind my left ear. Here’s how my kink became.

First of all I couldn’t fall asleep. I just got a new bed a few months ago it’s an air bed with latex as the topper (click here to see my bed). It wasn’t the bed that was causing the problem, but my mind. I couldn’t shut it off. All these thoughts were running through my head and the song Good Night Sweetheart was on replay mode for a few hours. After falling asleep I’m sure I wrestled with an invisible bear or something because I woke up all twisted around and my memory foam pillow was on the floor. Not only do I love my brand new bed, but I love my pillow as well.

Let’s hope I sleep better tonight!
